Aquarium Lighting Change – Day to Evening

Here’s the lighting change that occurs at 9 PM. I really enjoy watching the tank when only the actinic lights are on (early in the morning and late in the day).

A few photos of the actinic lights turning on in the morning. This is the first and last series of lights to be on each day. Lots of blue and purple! The bulbs are Giesemann T5 Powerchrome Pure Actinic & Actinic+.

Bubbles in My Aquarium

Staghorn Acropora slime bubbles

I came home from work the other day and noticed the Automatic Top Off (ATO) did not turn on which caused my sump level to run low thus causing my return pumps to pull in some air.  The tank was pretty full of micro bubbles and lots of coral slime. Soon as I triggered the ATO life was good again.

Peacock Mantis Shrimp Update

Quick video of our Peacock Mantis Shrimp (Odontodactylus scyllarus) feeding. I’m really happy that he’s coming out more and wandering around the refugium.  Hopefully he will start eating the baby peppermint shrimp.
