Summer time hair algae – Blue Legged Hermit Crabs & RO Filters
With the increased photo period (sun) and heat I’ve seen an increase in hair algae growth this past month or two. So, hopefully the addition of 150 tiny blue legged hermit crabs will get the job done! I also changed my 1 micron pre filter and .5 micron carbon filter as a result of seeing my TDS meter bump up a couple points. If you’re not using a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter and System Flush Valve Kit you really should (IMHO), they are relatively cheap and the flush valve can help prolong the life of your RO filters (saving you $). The TDS meter will help you monitor the RO water input and output of the last filtering stage.
